Welcome to the first post on the new Grand Rapids Anarchists website. Our goal is pretty simple on the one hand–to promote anarchism as a way of organizing–but complex on the other: we want the total destruction of the state, capitalism, and the existing society.

To that end, this website will serve as a hub for anarchist organizing in Grand Rapids. We will regularly post news about upcoming events, articles about anarchism, profile local groups and collectives, and do whatever we can to promote anarchism. In addition, we are maintaining a list of active anarchist/anti-authoritarian groups in Michigan (its under the “Contacts” sections).

One thing that we cannot stress enough is that anarchism is about ACTION. It isn’t about sitting on the Internet, closing yourself off to the community around you, social scenes, or purity contests about who is the most “anarchist.” Find your talents, find what you enjoy, and work to build a new world. We have no time to waste.
